Attendance
Regular school attendance is the key to enabling children and young people to maximise the educational opportunities available to them and become emotionally resilient, confident and competent adults who are able to realise their full potential.

Leave of absence

The 2013 amendments to the 2006 Education (Pupil Registration) (England) state that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term-time unless there are “exceptional circumstances”.

If parents/carers feel that there are such circumstances which warrant their child’s absence from school they should complete the request for leave of absence form below, clearly stating the exceptional circumstances. Upon receipt, each request will be considered on an individual basis by the headteacher in conjunction with members of the school’s Local Academy Committee members if necessary. Any absence taken without authorisation will be referred to Staffordshire County Council and may result in a fine

Illness

If your child is absent from school due to illness, please telephone the school office as soon as possible on the first day of absence.

Lateness

Every effort should be taken to ensure your child arrives at school on time. This is important as it gives children time to settle into the classroom and prepare for the day’s learning. Persistent lateness without satisfactory reason may be classed as unauthorised absence. Late arrivals should report to the school office for the register to be updated.

Any parent experiencing difficulty with any aspect of their child’s attendance should contact the school.
