As a school, we are proud of our Christian foundation and delighted to be part of the St. Michael and All Angels Church, Colwich. Like our Church, Colwich CE Primary School is a place of welcome for all our community and wherever you are on a journey of faith you are most welcome here.
Our school community enjoy and benefit from close links with the church of St. Michael and All Angels. This is a very productive, mutually supportive partnership and one we are constantly striving to develop further.
The church building is regularly used as an educational resource and worship – for pupils, staff, parents, governors and parishioners – is held there a number of times throughout the school year.
Church members serve as Foundation Governors and we value their many and varied contributions to the life of the school. Reverend Davys is a key member of our school Worship Team and regularly leads collective worship in school.
Collective Worship
Collective worship is central to the life of Colwich CE Primary School. We believe worship to be a special act or occasion whose purpose is to show reverence to God. Collective worship involves all members of the school community coming together as a class, key stage or whole school and celebrating our Christian values, vision and ethos. All participants reflect upon their contribution to the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our school community.
In line with the 1988 Education Reform Act, which states that collective worship should be ‘wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character’, our collective worship is generally based on the teachings of Christ and traditions of the Christian Church. However, we conduct our acts of worship in a manner that is sensitive to the individual faith and beliefs of all members of the school community.
While the majority of acts of worship in our school are Christian, we also reflect other religious traditions that are represented in the school and the wider community.

SIAMS
The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) is the Church of England and Methodist Church’s outworking of the requirements of section 48 of the Education Act 2005. It is a key element of the life of all Church of England and Methodist schools in England. SIAMS explores ways in which each school’s theologically rooted Christian vision drives its work and enables the school to live up to its foundation as a Church school.
SIAMS inspection focuses on the impact of the Church school’s Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish. Church schools will employ a variety of strategies and styles appropriate to, and reflective of, their particular context in order to be distinctively and effectively Christian in their character and ethos. SIAMS inspectors therefore do not look for a set template of what a Church school should be like, but rather take the particular context of the school into account and base their evaluation on the outcomes rather than the process.
